Months after becoming the largest testing and vaccination site in the San Fernando Valley, Pierce College shut down operations on Saturday, June 19.
According to CBS Los Angeles, health officials want to transition to small community-based sites. Earlier this month, the county shut down four of its super sites including Dodger Stadium.
Several other sites including California State University Northridge, The Forum in Inglewood, Pomona Fairplex and the L.A. County Office of Education all closed operations.
The county also plans to close the L.A. Southwest College’s site on June 26.
CBSLA reports that about 53% of the county’s population has received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
