Men’s volleyball continues to struggle with their sixth loss of the season coming at the hands of the El Camino Warriors in a home game held at the South Gym on March 9.
The Brahmas started weak in the first set, but they nearly caught up in the second and third sets, however it wasn’t enough.
The Warriors won the game in straight sets (25-6, 25-18 and 25-19).
Middle blocker Steven Blugrind, a veteran of the 2018 state championship-winning Pierce volleyball team, said the team needs to improve on their communication.
“We’re not loud enough,” Blugrind said. “We need to be able to have spirit.”
A sluggish start caused the Brahmas to fight an uphill battle after being down by over 10 points.
Team captain Alireza Manizani mentioned some underlying causes responsible for this shaky start.
“In the first set, we were in our heads too much,” Manizani said, “We were kind of just swinging into the blocks instead of really trying to get around them.”
Libero Ian Marquez said they were not playing smart.
“We’re playing pretty chaotic, so I feel like if we play smarter, we will start winning,” Marquez said.
The Brahmas travel to Antelope Valley College on Friday. First serve is at 6 p.m.
