Womens Soccer back for more

The Pierce College women’s soccer team remains undefeated ending in a final score of 2-2 against rival Moorpark Women’s Soccer team.

As the two teams came to the field ready and focused to play hard. The unexpected occurred when Megan Moreno (8) Moorpark’s team captain sustained a compound fracture during the first half, leaving the team to carry on the game.

After a 40 min delay the Pierce Soccer team came back strong against the 5-0 Moorpark with mid fielder Lindsay Liggera scoring a direct free kick on the 30th min in the first half. The streak continued with the second goal scored by Mia Swafford during the 56th min in the second half, ending the game 2-2.

“Should be a great season,” said Swafford whose goal is to work hard and help the team on defense and support. Adolfo Perez, head coach of Pierce College Women’s Soccer team was pleased with the team’s overall performance against Moorpark, considering the team had one day of rest after winning the Victory Valley Tournament early Sept. Coach Perez goal for the team is become organized in order to excel to the state championships.

Eric Privat Head coach of Moorpark Women’s Soccer team was also pleased with the performance of the team, but hopes to improve on pressure and prepare the team for different styles and high intense physical play delivered by the Pierce College Women’s Soccer team. The game was “eye opening for the freshman,” Said Privat.
