Recently I was at school trying to study, unfortunately my stomach growling wouldn’t let me.
As the growling in my stomach continued, I realized there is no good place to eat on campus.
After being on campus for about two hours I needed food, I went around campus to find something good.
My first stop was the Freudian Sip. However, there was nothing appetizing.
My second stop was the Student Store, but shortly I realized the best meal I could get from there would be chips and a soda or maybe a snack but no “real food.”
As I continued to look around campus the only other thing I saw was a lunch truck.
I don’t know about everyone else but I personally don’t like to eat from a truck.
After my food hunt I realized Pierce College has a serious food crisis.
If you attempt to leave campus to go grab a bite you have to drive, there is nothing walking distance away.
It would be too much trouble to have to go and come because good parking is really hard to come by. When you are working on an assignment like I was you can’t afford to lose a lot of time.
I began to wonder what the other students did on their breaks for lunch.
I surveyed 10 students, and seven out of the 10 students surveyed eat off campus because of the lack of variety.
Other colleges I have been to like; Los Angeles Mission College has good food. Other campuses like CSUN have a variety like: Burger King and Panda Express.
I know that Pierce College is under construction and the main focus should still be the students. When did the school stop prioritizing on the needs of students.
At Los Angeles Valley college the area near the cafeteria was under construction two winters ago and they still had a small out door cafeteria set up outside for students.
We need to have a catering company come in and provide meals to students. It can be set up where the Park Café used to be, with permanent tents, tables and comfortable chairs.
The Freudian Sip should have fresh sandwiches and a “soup of the day.” That would be something students would enjoy.
We need more homemade food, not food that has been sitting there.
The new cafeteria could take up to three years to re-open so we need to care and invest on the students of now.
