Injured quarterback out for season due to broken femur
Head coach Efrain Martinez will be starting freshman Taylor Budd as quarterback to replace Justin Collins, who suffered a broken femur during the Saturday-night game against Moorpark College.
It’s aces in Vegas for women’s volleyball (rough)
The women’s volleyball team won the Las Vegas Women’s Volleyball tournament Sept. 5 and 6. This is the first time they’ve won the tournament in four years. The Lady Brahmas had to beat Salt Lake, ranked sixth in the nation, twice to get into the championship match. They defeated College of Southern Idaho, ranked three in the nation, 4-1 to win the tournament.
Women’s soccer team learns important lesson
The women’s soccer team competed in the Victor Valley Soccer Tournament Sept. 6 and 7. They tied Sierra the first day 1-1, but lost in penalty kicks. They won the second game of the first day, beating Antelope Valley 4-0. The final day of the tournament, the Brahmas lost 5-0 to Victor Valley. The team plays twice this week; Moorpark on Tuesday and Cuyamaca College on Friday. Both games are away.
New ASO president seeks to lower book prices
The posters went up. The votes were put in. And the final decision elected Christian Marfil-Amatulli as the new Associated Students Organization president for the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 academic semesters. Marfil-Amatulli, 26, philosophy and political science major, has been attending Pierce College for three years.

This semester, every story the Roundup published seemed to be marred with the “looming threat” of the state’s budget deficit. The $16 million debt we are in has also led to an administration hungry for money, which was made evident with the district’s approval of Proposition 39, a third construction bond measure that would do practically everything the two proceeding it should have done, yet costs taxpayers nearly double the price.
