Mel Gibson gets to the point in “Apocalypto.” He starts out with a fierce hunting scene to get the audience in the film. The savage nature of the warrior comes out in different ways. “Apocalypto” has English subtitles and Gibson does a remarkable job with the Mayan Yucatec language.

As I walked into the Rose Bowl Saturday, it was going to be a great day. The long-standing rivalry between USC and UCLA is one of the biggest stories in college football. They are cross-town rivals who play for bragging rights every year, and I could just feel the excitement as I walked into the stadium.
Six for ’06
Democrats have launched their ‘Six for ’06’ campaign to change America and to benefit college students. The campaign is about the issues they wanted to address such as national security, healthcare and raise the minimum wage. One of the major themes is college access for all.
Soccer goes out with a win
Pierce College defeated Santa Monica College to win the Western State Conference Women’s Soccer championship. The Brahmas have won four of the last five conference championships, losing only in 2004. “This is the most satisfying and difficult,” said Head Coach Adolfo Perez.
Donated cars, trucks give techs hands-on opportunities
Where did all the cars and trucks come from in the Automotive Technology building? The Automotive Technology Department has 20 vehicles to use, all “for educational purposes… and donated from the manufacturers,” said Tom Rosdahl, a professor in the Automotive Technology Department.
