Despite a low student turnout, the recent Open Mic event sponsored by the Associated Students Organization had those who did attend nearly falling out of their seats. With its “paint your own theme” theme, the night began a bit haphazardly, as hosts going by the aliases Stylus and Mathematic goaded audience members into working up the courage to share anything with the crowd.

Jack Black and Mos Def join forces
“Be Kind Rewind” was an imaginative and hilarious depiction of what it is like to have an idea and just go for it. Jerry (Jack Black) and Mike (Mos Def) are two opposite people. Mike is a loyal clerk at a video store (no DVDs) called “Be Kind Rewind” and Jerry is the wacky friend who thinks the local power plant is melting his brain.
Ramzy’s Cafe: Your answer to Valley nightlife
Forget driving 20 miles to Hollywood and dealing with the ridiculous lines of overplayed celebrity hangouts. Finally, there is a place for those Valley-dwellers seeking a night life close to home and budget. Adorned golden walls carved with statues of pharaohs and sensual red lighting enticed me as I entered Ramzy’s Café in Tarzana.

“Lost Odyssey” is a Japanese role-playing game, a type that has been slowly slipping towards extinction. This latest spin on an old style of gaming was created by Mistwalker Studios, who also made the recent RPG “Blue Dragon”. It was created exclusively for the Xbox 360 and rated M.
