Tennis match lost to Ventura College, 9-0

The March 4 tennnis match against Ventura College ended in a loss for Pierce College, with Ventura musterign a final score of 9-0. Only Kostya Omelyinchuk, a freshman tennis player, managed to tie in his second set against Ventura’s Hassan Abbas; but after comingup short in his third set, Pierce ended without a win, losing its six singles and three doubles in the first home game on March 4.

Brahmas bested by Renegades

Baseball returned to Pierce College on Thursday as the Brahmas battled the Renegades of Bakersfield College, with the game ending 9-6 in favor of the Renegades. Pierce is now 3-4 across their last seven games, which date back to Feb. 21. “We left it all on the field today and unfortunately we didn’t play well enough to win,” said Joe Arnold, head coach of the Brahmas.

Stopped short of men’s soccer

Pierce College’s quest to debut a men’s soccer team in the upcoming fall semester has hit a temporary snag due to California’s statewide budget cuts authorized on Feb. 16. Adolfo Perez, women’s soccer coach and prospective men’s coach, said that adding men’s soccer ran smoothly before the cuts, with Pierce already recruiting 20-30 potential players.
