Say it ain’t so…
The Pierce women’s soccer team was shut out 1-0 against Santa Monica College Saturday in the first round of the Western Southern Conference playoffs. The Brahmas entered the game having won their last three games and finished with a 15-4-3 record. Pierce had not allowed a goal in the last three games, including the last game of the year against the Santa Monica Corsairs.
Soccer goes out with a win
Pierce College defeated Santa Monica College to win the Western State Conference Women’s Soccer championship. The Brahmas have won four of the last five conference championships, losing only in 2004. “This is the most satisfying and difficult,” said Head Coach Adolfo Perez.
Loss at Valley frustrates soccer
The Pierce College Women’s soccer team played frustrated in a 1-0 loss at Valley College Friday. The Brahmas came out of the gates shooting, with two shots on goal in the first two minutes of the first half. Most of the first half was played in the midfield as Valley kept the Brahmas from getting into the offensive zone.
100 games ‘n’ counting for Brahmas’ soccer
The Pierce College women’s soccer team has won more than 100 games in just under six seasons, a feat for any team, and one that should be recognized by a school not always known for its athletic domination. The women’s soccer program started in 2001 and now has recorded its 103 victory in its first 135 games.
A tough Tie
Bakersfield College held Pierce College’s Women’s soccer team to a 0-0 tie on Friday. The Brahmas had plenty of scoring chances in the first half, but they could not put in the back of the net. “We are frustrated and had our opportunities,” said Coach Adolfo Perez.
On the win again
The soccer team starts a new winning streak with a 4-0 win at College of the Canyons Friday. The Brahmas are now 11-3-2 and in first place in the standings. Pierce’s only loss last season was to the Cougars. Many of the players were nervous because of the personal rivary that has been formed in the last two seasons.
