In a recent trip to Las Vegas, I was involved in an accident. A woman backed up into my car leaving a huge dent. We took the standard practice of exchanging information and insurance policies and we made our way back to our destinations. Days later, after making numerous calls to her insurance provider we finally settled and my car was going to be fixed, and I was going to find out that my license was going to be suspended.
Joy and hope spread through the hallways as the Sociology Club gave out free hugs to students and faculty as a random act of kindness Nov. 14 at the Pierce College mall in front of the financial aid office. The Sociology Club’s ‘Free Hugs’ event is a not a solo act, but a byproduct of a campaign that started in 2004.
From pizza and chips to soups and lattes, the variety of food offered at Pierce College is incredible! When I was asked to write an opinion story on the food offered on campus and if fast food should be available, I was excited. Although I have never considered myself to be a health freak, eating well is a part of my every day life.
Several important decisions were made November 5th to the 10th that will affect students and faculty in the upcoming spring, summer and fall of 2008 semesters. The Academic Senate elections voted in seven people to represent full-time and part-time faculty at Pierce College .
The Pierce College Academic Senate gathered on November 19 to discuss a multitude of topics concerning the campus and its students. With the many topics discussed at the meeting, student e-mail addresses’ was amongst the most talked about by the teachers on the senate.

On a Saturday at 8 a.m., most college students are sleeping. In fact, anyone over the age of 18 that doesn’t have to work on the weekend should be sleeping; however, if I have no work on a Saturday, I like to kick off the day with Kids WB. No, you didn’t just misread that sentence.
Steve Bolan wakes up every morning and takes a drug cocktail that would put Courtney Love to shame. Like so many other young people in the ’60s and ’70s, he led the life of sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll, and now he’s paying the price. Bolan works for an organization, Being Alive, spreading awareness of the disease he has lived with for more than half his life.
