With a head count slightly more than 20,000 for the Spring 2008 semester, Pierce College has continued to expand and maintain a growing campus. Pierce enrollment has increased about 8.5 percent in enrollment compared to Spring 2007. In a few ways, Pierce has already begun to adjust to this growth by adding 250 new parking spaces, a new cafeteria and new ideas for the future.

As students, our failure to act in unity has cost us greatly in terms of community college funding. California community colleges may lose up to $525 million, according to Gov. The annual Voluntary Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) is back to offer free tax preparation to both students and non-students. Through the program, which is located in Room 3218 of the Business Education Building, Business 10 students offer free income tax preparation for anyone making less than $40,000 a year.
The Pierce College Academic Senate met on Feb. 11 to address a lengthy agenda, primarily concerning the school’s budget. The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) supported Proposition 92, an initiative that stood to financially benefit all nine LACCD campuses.
