A ‘Swim to Support Pierce Pool’ fund-raiser Oct. 21 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. will be hosted by the Friends of Pierce Pool at the college pool. The funds will specifically be used for the maintenance of the pool, which, according to Friends of Pierce Pool’s mission statement is a valuable asset to the college and surrounding community.
Pierce philosophy teacher Mia Wood recently gained a permanent position as a full-time assistant professor this fall semester. Wood, who has been at Pierce for four years as an adjunct instructor, has worked at several higher education institutions including Mission College, Pepperdine University and Woodbury University.

Pierce College’s Associated Students Organization celebrated United States Constitution Day, hosting the event on the Mall on Sept. 17. The entire Pierce College faculty received a 4.6 percent salary increase recently, but part-time faculty teaching 12- and 15-hour disciplines will be receiving an extra differential. The American Federation of Teachers (AFT), an affiliated international union representing more than 1.
