On Thursday, Carl Friedlander, president of Local AFT 1521, made the announcement as the principle speaker at the monthly chapter meeting for the Pierce Faculty Guild.

A creative exhibit featuring the art work of 14 faculty members was on display Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the faculty art gallery reception at Pierce College. There were about 40 people present, mainly faculty, students and friends. The faculty art show reception has happened for the past several years at Pierce College and is a night to recognize the works of teachers, not students.
The entire Pierce College faculty will enjoy a 4.6 percent salary increase as early as their Sept. 28 paychecks, but part-time teachers with heavy workloads will be receiving an extra differential. The announcement was made at the Pierce Faculty Guild Luncheon Meeting Sept.

Re-affirmation of Accreditation for Pierce Pierce College gets re-affirmation of accreditation from its March 2007 campus evaluation. An†accreditation team consisting of a 10 people roster from different junior/community colleges†visited the campus to evaluate if Pierce meets standards for accreditation.
The pre-veterinary club, along with Walking Shield American Indian Society, participates in an annual charity event that incorporates the generosity of students and faculty to provide toys, clothes and backpacks for impoverished Native American schoolchildren.
Homecoming for Pierce College is a time to celebrate alumni and also welcome a new generation of students and faculty. There are two potential dates for the Brahmas home game. The choices are Saturday October 27 against Moorpark College, or Saturday November 10 against our school rivals LA Valley College.
This past April the faculty here at Pierce College had their annual nominations for this year’s Professor of the Year award; one of those nominated was Dr. Isidore “Izzy” Goodman. During the next days it was announced that he was indeed the winner of this prestigious award.
