He skipped fifth grade yet barely graduated high school. He flunked most of his classes his first semester in college but is now wanted by top universities in the country. Everyone has story to tell. But rare to find, is a dynamic one such as Pierce College honor student Patrick “Tim” Simons.

Farmwatch claims animal abuse
A seven-page anonymous, untraceable Web site accuses the Pierce College Agriculture and Natural Resources Department of neglecting the animals under its care. City officials said they have been called out to the farm by anonymous sources, but have not found any signs of neglect or wrong doing.
Tanning your health away
Living in Southern California, being tan is important and equated with health and beauty, but people easily forget that being out in the sun all day can have a damaging effect on the skin. Many of us are sun-drenched beach bums who spend hours tanning in the sun and at salons without giving a second thought to what might happen as a result.
Mock crisis hits campus
Five people were found dead after an explosion in the Physics Building left 21 injured and three others hospitalized, according to a news release written at a mock disaster drill on Friday. The release was just one facet of the eight-hour tabletop training session in the Campus Conference Room.

Body-image struggles
You look good, but you could look better,” is what one boyfriend told me as we sat by the swimming pool one summer day in 2004. What he didn’t realize as those words left his mouth, was that I had been struggling with body image issues since I was 18 years old.
Road foul finds tragedy in the headlights
Nobody said it was easy to do or deal with- but they didn’t say it was going to be this hard either. I didn’t mean to do it. It was only my first time. Things like this occur every day but I just wish it didn’t happen to me and that I could take it back.
A time forgotten
The San Fernando Valley was quite different in the 1940s. It was filled with orange groves, street trolleys littered downtown Los Angeles, the terms “nifty” and “swell” were a part of the youth’s vernacular and people were swinging to the sounds of Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw.
