French Club

This semester, the French Club is being sponsored by a new faculty member.

Instructor of Modern Languages Silvie Young, the former faculty advisor to the club, left unexpectedly and without explanation last June, according to club members.

She was replaced by Rebecca Ebin.

The club was founded in February of 2009 through students taking a French class with Young.

Club activities include games, movies, museum trips, and camping trips. The club also occasionally holds bake sales as a way of fundraising.

“[I love the club because] we’re all just so close. We’ve all become close friends,” said criminal justice major Crystal Enzaldo. “The camping trip last semester really brought us together. Being a part of this club puts a smile on my face.”

As the art director for the club, not only is Enzaldo is in charge of making posters for the club, but she is also tasked with advertising for the club. Enzaldo first got involved with the French Club as a way of getting extra credit.

Enzaldo says that the top reason to join the French Club is to socialize and have fun.

The club meets Thursdays from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Village. They have yet to reserve a room for their weekly meetings.
