Brahmas bested by Renegades
Baseball returned to Pierce College on Thursday as the Brahmas battled the Renegades of Bakersfield College, with the game ending 9-6 in favor of the Renegades. Pierce is now 3-4 across their last seven games, which date back to Feb. 21. “We left it all on the field today and unfortunately we didn’t play well enough to win,” said Joe Arnold, head coach of the Brahmas.
Cheating an unholy route to victory
Recall the age-old adage: Nice guys finish last. While true to a point, recent history would indicate that this saying is no longer quite accurate. Nowadays, you’re run-of-the-mill average Joe finds his or herself trailing the ever- increasing line of ruthless competitors.
Brahmas exact vengeance against Citrus
Fresh out of an extra-inning heartbreaker at Citrus, the Pierce College baseball team avenged their loss, rallying to defeat the Owls 12-7 on March 6 at Joe Kelly Field. The Brahmas came into the game sporting a 2-3 in-conference record, and risked falling four games behind first-place Bakersfield with a loss.

Pierce College’s quest to debut a men’s soccer team in the upcoming fall semester has hit a temporary snag due to California’s statewide budget cuts authorized on Feb. 16. Adolfo Perez, women’s soccer coach and prospective men’s coach, said that adding men’s soccer ran smoothly before the cuts, with Pierce already recruiting 20-30 potential players.
A quick drive to paradise
Forget driving 20 miles to Hollywood and dealing with the ridiculous lines of overplayed celebrity hangouts. Finally, there is a place for those Valley-dwellers seeking a nightlife close to home and budget. Adorned golden walls carved with statues of pharaohs and sensual red lighting enticed me as I entered Ramzy’s Café in Tarzana.
the True faces of Film
Oscar nominees for makeup and hairstyling offered tips of their trades and advice for wannabes at a symposium the day before the big event. At Samuel Goldwyn Theater, Feb. 23, the nominated films for makeup and hair were “La Vie En Rose,” “Norbit” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” (POTC3).
Glendale shut out by Brahmas
The Pierce College baseball team scored a landslide victory against Glendale Community College on Thursday, with an amazing shutout score of 10-0. “The game went well,” said starting pitcher Cameron Collard. “We had good defense and good plays at the right time.
