The anime club at Pierce College was created as a place for fans to watch films, play video games and socialize.
“It is not like other clubs, it’s more of a social event,” Jones said. “You can meet people and just hang out.”
The club which operates as a relaxed and inviting environment has an average attendance of 30 people, according to club vice-president Alex Weldon.
“Some clubs push students, this club runs itself,” said Dale Fields, club advisor. “What’s great about Alex and Greg is they make everything run smoothly, they plan ahead.”
The club meets for six hours but they take breaks between movie showings.
“The club shows Anime classic movies and recent ones from Japan,” Weldon said.
The club meets every Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. in the Center for the Sciences room 91120.
