“The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow” is set to open in October

The Theater Department’s fall production of Rolin Jone’s “The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow,” will be showing at the end of October at the temporary Pierce College Theater.

“This play is very current and really speaks to a modern audience, especially the young audience that is familiar with the new technology,” said Professor Valorie Grear, the new Theater Department Chair and director of the play.  “We are going to incorporate technology into the set, so it’ll be a nice visual surprise.”

The contemporary play is the story of a genius girl, Jennifer, who attempts to determine her heritage while living with obsessive compulsive disorder and agoraphobia.  When she decides to search for her biological mother in China but is too afraid of leaving her house, Jennifer builds a human-like robot which would travel to China for her.

“The set design is futuristic and exciting, we have a great and talented cast, we’ve been working really hard, and I hope everyone on campus can come see the show and relate to the story,” said Jenny Kang who plays the role of Jennifer.

The play will be showing on Oct. 21, Oct. 22, Oct. 23, Oct. 28, Oct. 29, and Oct. 30. Tickets are available for sale online or through the box office line.
