President: Andrea Murray
Meetings are held Fridays at 1 p.m. in BEH 1309.
The club can be contacted through their Facebook page: Made with Love Club (LA Pierce College).
So far, the club has given $100 to the L.A. Mission for the Homeless and $300 to Autism Speaks from their charity fundraising events.
The club was formed during the fall of 2010.
They do publicity events every two weeks, during which they sell baked goods, accept donations of canned goods for charities, and invite people to join their club. Another impacting way of making money for charity is to create personalized wristbands for the organisation. Wristbands can be designed in any way, the logo and name of the charity can be included if you wish. You can then sell these wristbands which will help towards fundraising efforts for the charities.
Members plan on joining the Oct. 26 protest about the further cutting of classes from the class list.
They have discussed possible baking training, but since Pierce College does not have a cooking classroom, they would have to do it at a member’s house.
The club also offers community service credit for members who help out in their events. Last semester the club did a total of 30 hours of community service.
There are no summer or winter semester meetings because of class cuts.
Murray will be leaving after Spring 2012, so she is looking for a new president to take over the club.
