Staff members of the Roundup newspaper have traditionally spent the majority of their time reporting stories, taking pictures and designing pages for the print edition. However, we live in a fast-paced world and we attend a fast-paced college. Why should readers find out about news and events after everything is already over, or accept sports scores that are three games too late? Since summer, we have been posting stories ranging from news and sports to play reviews and campus events.

Two new Deans were appointed at Pierce College
Two new deans were appointed on Aug. 11 and Sept. 1, the new deans are: Jose Luis Fernandez, Dean of Career and Technical Education and Barbara Anderson, Dean of Academic Affairs.

When Marv Dunphy steps onto the floor at Firestone Fieldhouse to begin his 26th season at the helm of the Pepperdine University Waves men’s volleyball team, it will be just another day at the office – at least to him. Dunphy will have held practice with his latest squad, will have gotten reacquainted with his returning players and will have gotten to know his new recruits, just like all of his opposing coaches.

Pierce lost their home game – and their quarterback
A crowd of 600 packed Shepard Stadium Saturday night as the lights shone bright on the field for the first time this season, but not bright enough as the Brahmas dropped their home opener, 28-17, to the Moorpark College Raiders. The crushing blow, however, did not involve the scoreboard at all.
Quarterback injury darkens season-opening loss
With the clock winding down in the fourth quarter, Collins broke loose for a scramble and was knocked to the ground where he would lay conscious but in immense pain with an apparent hip injury for nearly half an hour before being transported off the field by ambulance.

One win closer to ‘the whole thing’
The women’s volleyball team began their season with a 3-0 victory in tonight’s match against San Bernardino, picking up last season’s flag after winning last year’s Western State Conference. The team won the first set, 25-11; the second set, 25-20; and the third set, 25-14.
Child airlifted off Pierce campus
A child was airlifted out of Pierce College after a Los Angeles Fire Department helicopter landed on the soccer field around 7:15 p.m. While the age and condition of the child was unavailable, Officer Morales of the Pierce Sheriff’s Office said the incident was unrelated to Pierce.
Recycling for a difference(opinion)
What it is about is that Pierce is trying out a new program in trying to keep the campus clean and helping the environment as well.
