The San Fernando Valley Master Chorale is promising a subjectively patriotic performance at the Performing Arts Building June 9 with the force of more than 100 voices and a guest accompanying orchestra. Also known as the Pierce College Philharmonic Choir, the Master Chorale is a class of students ages ranging from 17 to 80.

Vending machine woes
In the 4 snack machines on campus, there are two healthy choices: Mr. Nature’s Trail Mix and Nature Valley granola bars. Some people don’t mind this. “No! Don’t take our vending machines away!” said Jessica Bravatti, 17. She said she would definitely not support a health kick in the vending machines, but she did say that, given a choice between fried chips and veggie chips, she would buy the latter.
Fully dedicated counselor
Veloria, Manuel Newly hired full-time counselor Elizabeth Strother is looking forward to helping Pierce students achieve their educational goals, one at a time. “I fell in love with the job. I love seeing students commit and achieve their goals in life and it’s just inspiring seeing students succeed,” Strother said with an enthusiastic voice and dedication in guiding students to success.

Heller Bianca Lopez 1-1-1-1 Barbra Heller Senior Secretary of Academic Affairs has been a member of the Pierce staff for 26 years and enjoys every minute of it. Heller moved from New York to California in 1981. Her husband Stan Heller had relocation with his job.
Womens Soccer back for more
The Pierce College women’s soccer team remains undefeated ending in a final score of 2-2 against rival Moorpark Women’s Soccer team. As the two teams came to the field ready and focused to play hard. The unexpected occurred when Megan Moreno (8) Moorpark’s team captain sustained a compound fracture during the first half, leaving the team to carry on the game.

Pierce College welcomes Patrick Rauber as the new Library Science Teacher for the Fall semester 2007. He will be joining the staff of the library as an additional librarian. He is one of many new teachers and faculty to accompany the existing faculty.

Summer performance ‘Carousel’ set to have largest cast
A large cast of Pierce College students will be performing Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Carousel” this summer in the Performance Arts building. The Pierce College Theatre department is currently having auditions for this musical; singers, dancers and actors are encouraged to go to the Theatre Department to sign up.
‘Professor of the Year’ honored at AS meeting
Dr. Isidore “Izzy” Goodman, head of the chemistry department at Pierce College, was named Professor of the Year at the Academic Senate meeting on April 30. The honor was awarded to Goodman by the Professional Growth and Development Committee headed by Kathy Oborn, political science and economics professor.
