I am a student at Pierce College and I also work in the Office of Academic Affairs. I picked up the recent copy of The Roundup and was shocked to see the description used by your writers in a description of Republican Peter Hankwitz.

Remember the day; Remember veterans
As we enter the month of turkeys, relatives and elections, it’s easy to forget how much we take for granted. From our mouthfuls of gobbler, to our time spent with family and our freedom to choose our own representatives we forget what we have. We forget what so many gave their lives for and put themselves at risk to protect.
Don’t settle for others’ decisions this election day

Just who’s peeking at your Space when you’re not looking?
MySpace is Everybody’s Space. More than 60 million people use MySpace to promote their music, develop relationships and talk dirty with their friends from the privacy of their own homes. What they don’t realize is that MySpace is really “Everybody’s Space,” including sexual predators searching for teens and employers spying into the personal lives of potential job candidates.

Although you reported that Peter Hankwitz included his personal opinions of gay issues, I wondered if it was really necessary to refer to him as a “gay Republican” in the heading above the column. I think the lead-in to the story would have been just as effective without the irrelevancy of the adjective appearing there.
Difranco latest work borders on failure
Soothing, relaxing, jazzy and mellow describes Ani Difranco’s sound throughout her album “Reprieve.” “Hypnotized” the opener does just what it says. The song lingers the listener in and makes them feel at ease. The smooth sound of her guitar allows you to drift into relaxation and takes you into another world.
New play proves to be eye-catching
Because it was opening on a Friday night, Halloween weekend and after a long day of work, I was afraid it would be hard to try to grant the cast and crew of Pierce College’s latest theater production, “The Elephant Man” my fullest attention and objectivity.
Yes, I’ve been here for seven years
I came across a quote emblazoned on the front of a T-shirt recently that read: “College. The best 7 years of my life.” To add insult to injury was the drawing of an overly gleeful middle-aged man accompanying the impertinent line. But if you’re like me, this quote, however relatable and sometimes embarrassing, is completely true.
Support rape prevention, response
“In 2000, the Sexual Victimization of College Women survey estimated that a college with 10,000 students could expect more than 350 rapes per year to occur on that campus.” This alarming statistic did not come from our research, but rather from the Pierce College Web site, where it informs students about sexual violence and their options should an attack occur.
