A ‘Swim to Support Pierce Pool’ fund-raiser Oct. 21 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. will be hosted by the Friends of Pierce Pool at the college pool. The funds will specifically be used for the maintenance of the pool, which, according to Friends of Pierce Pool’s mission statement is a valuable asset to the college and surrounding community.

Brahmas taken down by Glendale
Pierce College, like the weather on Saturday, had its ‘hots and colds,’ finishing cold. The Brahmas lost to Glendale College in front of a crowd of more than 400 people, 34-14. “Right now, they’re a better team,” said Pierce coach Efrain Martinez. At the end of the first quarter, the Brahmas were down 7-0.
With Open Arms
Jewish club Bianca Lopez 1-1-1-1 The HILLEL Jewish Club has open arms to anyone who wants to join in their year around events. HILLEL had a kick off free Kosher BBQ Thursday with tropical drinks and a “rockin’ hula contest.” Andrew Schwartz, part of the Jewish Campus Services Corps Fellow, said he is looking forward to the outcome of students who join this semester.
The Halloween Festival Finally Arrives
This weekend Pierce College is proud to welcome back their annual Halloween Harvest Festival. This wildly popular event opens this friday, September 29 at 7pm. At the corner of De Soto and Victory for the next five weeks and everyone is invited. Preparations for this fest seem to be going right on schedule, according Linda Carberry, the school’s farm center manager.

The small wide receiver doesn’t allow his height to be a disadvantage. The 5-foot-10-inch freshman never caught a pass in high school, yet in his first four games for Pierce College, he has 4 touchdowns placing him in the top 5 in the Western State Conference.
A chunk of luck needed for “Good Luck Chuck”
Dane Cook may deliver good punch-lines while on stage telling how he punched a penguin on the beak, but “Good luck Chuck” may need a chunk of luck since sex, magic, and penguins won’t land a winning K.O. “Good Luck Chuck”, opened nationwide Friday, and grossed over 14 million during the first weekend.
Date for homecoming undecided
Homecoming at Pierce College is a time to celebrate alumni and welcome a new generation of students and faculty. When it will occur, however, remains to be seen. There are two potential dates for the Brahmas home game – Saturday, Oct. 27 against Moorpark College, or Saturday, Nov.
Faculty-wide salaries increase, part-timers awarded extra per hour
The entire Pierce College faculty will enjoy a 4.6 percent salary increase as early as their Sept. 28 paychecks, but part-time teachers with heavy workloads will be receiving an extra differential. The announcement was made at the Pierce Faculty Guild Luncheon Meeting Sept.
Masterpieces from the masters!
A creative exhibit featuring the art work of 14 faculty members was on display Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the faculty art gallery reception at Pierce College. There were about 40 people present, mainly faculty, students and friends. The faculty art show reception has happened for the past several years at Pierce College and is a night to recognize the works of teachers, not students.
