This is an everyday encounter for those who follow the art of parkour. Alex “Ace” Scott has been studying and practicing parkour – a style of urban obstacle coursing – for a little more than four years.

Key player quits team
The men’s volleyball team at Pierce College lost their starting setter and now they are working hard to step up their game. Sia Irilian, 17, who had been playing volleyball for nine years and was the starting setter for the Brahmas, quit after their March 12 game against Moorpark College.

Hard-hitting victory ends baseball team’s 8-loss streak
The Brahmas defeated the Vaqueros of Glendale Community College after an eight-game losing streak, with a final score of 13-3. “We’ve been playing better,” said head coach Joe Arnold. “If you just gauge it by wins and losses, it’s not necessarily a true indication of progression of the team.
Pool plagued by sibling rivalry
Valley College defeated Pierce College at swim meet Friday afternoon, 67-44. The event was a dual meet between Pierce and Valley for both men and women, with diving and swimming rounds. “We know that team very well because they train with us every day, because their pool, the pool that they’ve been using, is broken,” said Fred Shaw, Pierce head coach.
Third bond may add three buildings
The district board of trustees will consider placing a third construction bond on the ballot when they meet on April 23 in Pierce’s newly built Student Community Center, explained Pierce College President Robert Garber at an Academic Senate meeting. A survey informing voters of a third bond was introduced in March.
Construction expected to wrap by mid-2010
As jackhammers pounded and bulldozers groaned behind him, Pierce College President Robert Garber announced that the Los Angeles Community College District board of trustees is considering a third bond measure to provide additional funding for construction on the district’s nine campuses during a news conference on April 2.
