Delusional is the word that comes to mind when I hear women say that they want to find a chivalrous man.
I used to think that chivalry isn’t dead, it was probably just old and fat sitting in a nursing home talking about “the good ol’ days.”
However, the more men I met the more I realized that chivalry IS dead. It’s dead, 6-feet under, decomposed at an unmarked grave.
Recently I met someone who I was very interested in. He’s attractive, intelligent, an artist and honest.
Maybe a bit too honest.
After a couple times of seeing each other at different social settings and flirting with the looks we’d give one an other, he asked for my number.
Now, I thought it was going to be a week of text-flirting, which consists of a two-day game of “20 questions” and talking about a good place to eat and finally going out together.
Well, I was wrong, this honest artist of mine (we can just call him The Artist) texted me the same night he got my phone number.
What he had texted me was what made me realize chivalry is dead. I’m not going to get graphic and put down what he said, however, it was straight, to the point and dinner wasn’t even involved.
So, what did I do? What any self-titled adventurer would do, I went and spent a night with him. This has now turned into a two week endeavour.
This isn’t the end of The Artists’ honesty though. I was informed the other day that being exclusive isn’t his “deal.”
Still, I’m drawn to his mystery. However, it’s not mystery because he is an open book eager to be read.
I’m starting to think it’s the concept of opposites attracting.
So, I’m stuck, in a mess of a situation where one is being exclusive and the other can’t even define what exclusive is.
One thing is for sure, it’s a relationship without the stress. It’s intimacy without the commitment. It’s having wings to fly but being afraid of heights.
