Brief: Water polo lose season opener

The Brahmas couldn’t get into the swim of things as they lost to the Ventura College Pirates 18-3 in their season opener at home.

Ventura started out to a quick 3-0 lead and never slowed down.

Water polo coach Judi Terhar gave credit to the opponents as they dominated the entire game.

“Ventura is one of the best teams around,” Terhar said. “They have unbelievable water polo players and swimmers.”

Pierce has a young team, with only three returning players from last year and were short-handed due to seven players being ineligible over insurance paperwork.

The lone bright spot for the Brahmas was Tamar Kazanjia as she scored three goals.
