Global warming is the result of more than 6 billion people going about their normal day. While trying to find a parking spot at Pierce College may be tough and annoying, it does more than cause students to be late to class. All of that fuel emission being spread through the air is what global warming feeds on.

Oscar nominees for hair and makeup share wisdom
Oscar nominees in makeup and hair offered tips of their trades and advice for wannabes at a symposium the day before the big event. At Samuel Goldwyn Theater, Feb. 23, the nominated films for makeup and hair were “La Vie En Rose,” “Norbit” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End,” (POTC3).
Jack Black and Mos Def join forces
“Be Kind Rewind” was an imaginative and hilarious depiction of what it is like to have an idea and just go for it. Jerry (Jack Black) and Mike (Mos Def) are two opposite people. Mike is a loyal clerk at a video store (no DVDs) called “Be Kind Rewind” and Jerry is the wacky friend who thinks the local power plant is melting his brain.
Ramzy’s Cafe: Your answer to Valley nightlife
Forget driving 20 miles to Hollywood and dealing with the ridiculous lines of overplayed celebrity hangouts. Finally, there is a place for those Valley-dwellers seeking a night life close to home and budget. Adorned golden walls carved with statues of pharaohs and sensual red lighting enticed me as I entered Ramzy’s Café in Tarzana.
New smoking campaign at Pierce: Pro
Many smokers are brooding about the new smoking regulations being put into effect this semester. Some non-smokers are complaining the lack of sternness exercised by the new regulation makes it no more than an elaborate “please.” Look at the bright side of it all though; now, everyone knows where it’s okay to smoke and where it may bother someone.

As an ex-smoker, I understand the harmful effects of the disgusting habit. I used to hate rules against smoking and believed they infringed on my God-given rights. Now I get it. When I see smokers, I weave and bob to dodge the incoming cancer. So, as I came onto the Pierce campus Feb.
Letter from the editor
I chop it up line by line. The high is unsurpassable. It’s production day in the Roundup newsroom at Pierce College and we’re into our twelfth hour. The rush of seeing our final product on newsstands keeps us going more than the 16.ozs of sugar we’ve downed with a side of coffee.
The budget of our futures
As students, our failure to act in unity has cost us greatly in terms of community college funding. California community colleges may lose up to $525 million, according to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s proposed 2008-09 state budget. Community college enrollment is rising, especially at Pierce College, yet the amount of money we receive from the state is plummeting.

It is safe to assume that everyone reading this publication is well aware of the fact that cigarette smoke is harmful to an individual’s health. The number of public service announcements warning consumers of the fatality of smoking cigarettes is countless.
