Fees on the rise
Do not be alarmed by a possible enrollment-fee increase of at least $6 per unit sometime next year for California community colleges.
As of press time, there is no official news release about the fees returning $26 per unit-a price last paid in the summer of 2007-but there has been a speculation it will rise to $30 as soon as July 1 of next year.
CSU-transferring angst? Don’t be discouraged
In light of CSU campuses accepting 10,000 less students for the fall ’09 semester, Pierce College students that are planning on transferring to a university may feel discouraged.
Applications are up 20 percent this semester for CSU schools and 36 percent for transfer students.
More designated smoking areas needed
Designated smoking areas are too few, too far and too inconvenient for most smokers on campus to use, and therefore most of them ignore the rules. And rules don’t matter if no one enforces them.
