Setting priorities and effectively managing time is the topic of a seminar tomorrow, 1-3 p.m. in the Sociology Building, Room 1107. The time management seminar is part of a series of ‘Student Success Workshops’ offered through the Counseling department that are designed to help Pierce students have a more successful college experience.
Maybe I just like to party. Maybe I spend too much time going out when I should be studying. I’m probably one of those crazed young adults who comes home late at night and then gives my teacher an excuse about why I don’t have my homework. Or maybe not.
Heather Herrera is small by soccer standards at a diminutive 5’2″, but she’s a fearless and relentless tackler whose opponents often end up on their behinds after an encounter with her for control of the ball. And to add insult to injury, Herrera scored the only goal that mattered early in the game against the Corsairs at the Soccer Pit on Friday.
Lies, death, despair, attempted knifings, drug addiction, teen pregnancy, poverty, jealousy and social class dissociation – all set to a campy musical backdrop? Doesn’t seem quite right, does it? But somehow, the cast of “Blood Brothers,” the Theatre Arts department’s fall production, makes it work without any hint of contrivance.

A ‘Gold Medallion of Excellence’ was awarded to the Los Angeles Community College District, of which Pierce is a part, for its Web site. Judging was based on creativity and effective marketing. Awards were given by the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations earlier this month at its annual conference to recognize outstanding achievement in communications for community, junior and technical college professionals.
“Missing Students” exhibit rescheduled Swisher Park Wednesday, Nov. 10, all day (rain or shine) The long-awaited collection will be displayed at Pierce for one day only. The sculptures were designed to raise awareness of the number of students missing at community colleges due to budget cuts last year.
The following editorial, written by Roundup staff writer Chrystal Walsh, won an honorable mention Oct. 16 in an on-the-spot competition sponsored by the Journalism Association of Community Colleges, which featured Southern California student reporters and photographers competing in 13 categories.
