Brahmas 2nd place in state finals is more win than loss

The Brahmas' women's volleyball team went all the way to the state finals in Fresno last weekend before losing to Orange Coast College in the championship match. "It was the best season ever and we had fun," said Bea Ramos. This marked the first time in school history that the women's volleyball team advanced to the championship.

B-ball defense just misses

The fans were cheering as the Brahmas tipped-off their seventh basketball game of the season Friday against the Los Angeles City College Cubs, but later suffered a disappointing loss of 55 to 56. The first half of the game went to the Brahmas, who had a 12- point lead over the Cubs by half time.

Say it ain’t so…

The Pierce women's soccer team was shut out 1-0 against Santa Monica College Saturday in the first round of the Western Southern Conference playoffs. The Brahmas entered the game having won their last three games and finished with a 15-4-3 record. Pierce had not allowed a goal in the last three games, including the last game of the year against the Santa Monica Corsairs.

Soccer goes out with a win

Pierce College defeated Santa Monica College to win the Western State Conference Women's Soccer championship. The Brahmas have won four of the last five conference championships, losing only in 2004. "This is the most satisfying and difficult," said Head Coach Adolfo Perez.

Volleyball prepares for regionals

As they head off another home game on the evening of Nov. 10, the crowd awaited to see an intense game that held everyone to their seats. This wasn't just another game but the girls' volleyball team takes their team effort very seriously. They don't win by luck, but rather by being each other's support.

Loss at Valley frustrates soccer

The Pierce College Women's soccer team played frustrated in a 1-0 loss at Valley College Friday. The Brahmas came out of the gates shooting, with two shots on goal in the first two minutes of the first half. Most of the first half was played in the midfield as Valley kept the Brahmas from getting into the offensive zone.

100 games ‘n’ counting for Brahmas’ soccer

The Pierce College women's soccer team has won more than 100 games in just under six seasons, a feat for any team, and one that should be recognized by a school not always known for its athletic domination. The women's soccer program started in 2001 and now has recorded its 103 victory in its first 135 games.

A tough Tie

Bakersfield College held Pierce College's Women's soccer team to a 0-0 tie on Friday. The Brahmas had plenty of scoring chances in the first half, but they could not put in the back of the net. "We are frustrated and had our opportunities," said Coach Adolfo Perez.

Football takes another beating

It was a clear cool evening Saturday at Shepard Stadium, but apparently a hot and hazy one on the field for the Brahmas, facing the College of the Canyon's Cougars with a 53-17 loss. Unfortunately, a key mistake in the game was the Brahmas defense, ranked 13 in rushing defense in the Western State Conference, which allowed Canyon's Cougars offensive team, ranked number two in the WSC, earn the win.

Volleyball in the Blood

What do Ashley and Vanessa Murray have in common with the NFL 's, Peyton and Eli Manning or tennis's Venus and Serena Williams? They are all siblings who play in the same sport. The only difference is that the Murray sisters play on the same team: the Pierce College Women's Volleyball team.
