Hitting Pierce College theaters next week is the first-ever film festival, “Celebrating Diversity.” Headed by Sylvia Silva, compliance officer and chairwoman of the Diversity Committee, the film festival will take place from April 23 to 27 in various places on campus.
The Board for UC and CSU has approved a hefty tuition increases which include a 10 percent undergraduate tuition hike for the California State University system and a 7 percent increase at the University of California. Although California has the cheapest public university tuition in the U.
Pierce College will run a self-assessment test to acquire knowledge of its current status among the nine colleges in the Los Angeles Community College District. The announcement for this new system of self-testing was announced March 21 at the Academic Senate meeting.
The Los Angeles Community College District board of trustees has appointed attorney Angela J. Reddock, of Westchester, to fill the vacant trustee seat that has existed since the February resignation of President Michael Waxman. Reddock will complete Waxman’s four-year term, which ends June 30, 2009.
Applications are being accepted through April 27 at the human resources office at Pierce College to fill the position of a fourth dean of academic affairs. The salary for this position ranges from $94,560 to $132,714. This is also a position that affects the lives of more than 19,000 students who attend Pierce.
